Sebagai usaha preventif pencegahan meluasnya penularan Virus Corona atau COVID-19 Museum Nasional mengelurakan kebijakan berupa penutupan layanan kunjungan mulai dari tanggal 15-25 Maret 2020. Museum Nasional menunda beberapa kegiatan yang direncanakan antara tanggal tersebut.
Pertama Museum Nasional sudah mengantisipasi dengan melakukan pemindaian suhu tubuh terhadap semua pengunjung yang akan masuk ke museum. Langkah kedua adalah menyediakan cairan pencuci tangan dan mewajibkan pengunjung mencuci tangan sebelum dan sesudah mengunjungi museum.
Dengan mengamati informasi yang berkembang dan instruksi dari pemerintah maka kami memutuskan untuk melakukan sterilisasi pada semua fasilitas di Museum Nasional untuk meminamalisir penyebaran Virus Corona atau COVID-19
Mengingat penutupan layanan tersebut hanya untuk sterilisasi maka layanan perkantoran dan surat menyurat tetap buka seperti biasa.
